Isn't Patrick Swayze in it?
It seems you only know of North & South from hearsay. And NO Patrick Swayze isn't in it! Can it really be you're one of the poor creatures who never has heard of the 2004 BBC adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel North and South, starring the divine Richard Armitage and a other incredible actors like Daniela Denby-Ashe, Sinead Cusack, Tim Piggot-Smith …?
Don't be alarmed, but I really doubt your knowledge of English literature if you don't know Elizabeth Gaskell. English literature and the BBC is a match made in heaven; it isn't enough to read the book. You must see the literary adaptation too, otherwise you'll never score better in this quiz!
Therefore some basic instructions which you should follow:
1. Read the novel
2. Watch the DVD
If possible do this as often as you can.

Why doesn't Darcy jump into the pond and why does Lizzy always call him 'Mr Thornton' ?
Huh? Did I miss the release of the film Northern Pride & Southern Prejudice, an adaptation of a lost novel by Elizabeth Jane Gaskell-Austen written in the brief Victorgency era (September 1836 - February 1837) which acclaimed men of letters still refuse to acknowledge???? It must be a very limited edition. Maybe you are the only one who has seen the film so far. You have to tell me more about it.
Has Mr Henry Collins already proposed to Lizzy Hale?
Has Mrs Hale already mentioned her poor nerves to her dear Mr Hale??
Does Bessy Lucas really die and does get buried on Hunsford cemetery????
Didn’t you just despise Lady Hannah de Burgh and Caroline Latimer ???
Oh, I really have to know, how does it end?? Something like My dearest lovliest Lizzy, are you coming home with me?
Now, you have the choice. Either you can come up with plausible answers for all these questions or you could just admit that there is no such film and you mistook North & South (yes, this is the film we are talking about) for Pride & Prejudice (let Darcy swim another round in the pond, you have better things to do now). You know admitting your mistakes is the first important step in the right direction. And the direction is northwards.
With a simple 2-step-program from the self-help group Thornton Watchers you can turn your Pride & Prejudice fixation into North & South admiration.
1. Read the novel
2. Watch the DVD (as often as you can)

Isn't it from the BBC with a main actor who looks like Hugh Jackman?
Yes and no. It is indeed from the BBC but you should have a closer look at the guy you thought looked like Hugh Jackman. For once and all, the tall, dark and handsome man is Richard Armitage. It's better you keep this name in your mind. You'll definitely hear it more often in the future. Hugh who??

Isn't it a literary adaptation from some English writer with a good-looking actor who's wearing speedos in some other series?
I see you have at least some basic information about the film and its main actor. That's something to start with. Just for the record, the English writer is Elizabeth Gaskell and the good-looking actor - formerly seen in speedos - is Richard Armitage. I know it's difficult to get the speedos out of your head but he looks also great in undertaker suit, with top hat and/or cravatless. And did I mention the gorgeous blue eyes and the stubble?

Isn't it the 2004 BBC adaptation of North & South, a novel written by Victorian writer Elizabeth Gaskell in 1855, starring Richard Armitage who was also in Cold Feet, Between The Sheets, Ultimate Force, The Golden Hour, Frozen and The Impressionists?
Exactly! Brilliant! Perfect! Now here's someone who knows what's what. I bow to your excessively good knowledge of everything that has to do with North & South: you know the details by heart, can recite text passages without effort and can speak the International RA Code easily. I can only congratulate you in your taste in period drama and in your choice of men, that is Richard Armitage. But why tell you? Of course, you know him from head to toes yourself, have seen him in all his works and collect every tiny bit of information about him. Keep it up!
